SORTA NORMAL GAMES

Terms

Last updated November 5, 2026

These are the rules for using Sorta Normal Games. They're an agreement between you and Sorta Normal Games (run by its founder, as a sole proprietor in New Jersey, USA). By using Sorta Normal Games you agree to them, so please read them. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle information.

1. What it does

Sorta Normal Games helps you make a personalized party game about someone you're celebrating. You answer a few questions, chat with an AI interviewer, can invite friends to add stories, and get cards you can edit and print. It's free right now.

2. Who can use it

You need to be 18 or older to make a game, help with one, or have an account. Kids are welcome to play a printed game.

3. Your account

You sign in with a code or link we email you, so keep your email account secure. You're responsible for what happens in your account. If you think someone else got in, use Settings → Sign out everywhere and tell us at hello@sortanormalgames.com.

4. Be kind to the person you're celebrating (the important part)

Your game is about a real person. When you or your helpers add stories, you agree:

  • It's for fun, not harm. No bullying, harassing, humiliating, threatening or defaming anyone.
  • Keep it fair. Don't present made-up claims as facts that could hurt someone's reputation.
  • No sensitive or private details: health, sexuality, religion, politics, immigration status, money, addresses, phone numbers, passwords, or secrets told to you in confidence.
  • Children: nothing you wouldn't put on a school birthday card. Never anything sexual involving anyone under 18.
  • You're allowed to share it. Only share stories and content you have the right to share.
  • Respect requests. If the person or someone mentioned asks for something to be taken out, please take it out. We may remove it if they ask us.

5. Helpers

You can invite helpers by email or with a share link. Only invite people who'd want to take part. You can review their stories, keep or remove them, and turn invites off; you're responsible for what ends up in your game. Anyone with your share link can open it, so share it with care. Helpers see the cards only after you mark the game as played. Helpers: these terms apply to you too, especially section 4.

6. Things you can't do

  • Break the law, or help someone else break it.
  • Try to hack, overload, scrape or copy Sorta Normal Games.
  • Use invites to spam people.
  • Try to make the AI produce hateful, sexual, violent or otherwise harmful content.
  • Break the usage rules of our AI provider (Anthropic's Usage Policy), which apply to everything sent through Sorta Normal Games.

7. Your stories and your game

  • What you write is yours.
  • You let us use it to run Sorta Normal Games: to store it, process it, and send it to the services that help us (including the AI) to make and deliver your game.
  • Learning: unless you switch it off, you also let us use your cards, with names replaced, as examples that guide future games, and read your interview to improve the interviewer (see the Privacy Policy). You can switch it off any time.
  • Your game is yours to enjoy: print it, play it, share it with friends and family. Please don't sell it.
  • We may remove content that breaks these terms.

8. About AI-written cards

The cards are written by AI from what you tell us, and AI makes mistakes: it can get facts wrong, misread a joke, or write something that lands badly. Don't rely on anything it says as fact without checking. Please read every card before you play, and edit or delete anything that isn't right for your group. You're responsible for the game you print and play. Similar cards may be written for other people; we don't promise any card is unique.

9. Our part

Sorta Normal Games's software, design, name, card templates and example library belong to us. Our games are inspired by classic party-game formats; we're not connected to the makers of any branded game.

10. Ideas you send us

If you send us ideas or feedback, we can use them without owing you anything. Thank you!

11. Ending things

You can stop using Sorta Normal Games and delete your account at any time (Settings). We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, or for legal or safety reasons. We may also change Sorta Normal Games or stop offering it; if we stop, we'll give you a reasonable chance to download your games first.

12. No promises

Sorta Normal Games is free and provided “as is”. We don't promise it will always work, be error-free, or that the cards will be accurate or funny (though we try hard).

13. Limits on our responsibility

We aren't responsible for indirect or unexpected losses (like lost profits), and our total responsibility to you for any claim is limited to US $50. This limit doesn't apply to injury to people or damage to property, or to harm we cause on purpose or through gross negligence.

14. What you share is on you

You're responsible for the stories and content you and your helpers add. If something you share breaks these terms or the law (for example, by defaming someone), we may remove it and end your access.

15. Disagreements

Please write to hello@sortanormalgames.com first; most problems can be fixed quickly. These terms are governed by the laws of New Jersey, USA. Any dispute goes to the courts of New Jersey, but either of us can use small-claims court.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms and will change the date at the top. If a change matters, we'll tell account holders by email or in the app before it applies. If you keep using Sorta Normal Games after that, the new terms apply.

17. The small print

If part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce something straight away, we haven't given it up. You can't pass these terms to someone else; we can if Sorta Normal Games is sold. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about Sorta Normal Games.
